If your studio offers a membership, you can book unlimited classes for a fixed amount per period. You start it yourself, payment is automatic after that, and you cancel it yourself on your own page My membership. The e-mails call it a "subscription"; it is the same thing.
How it works
- Unlimited booking. With a membership a class costs no credit. You book as usual in the schedule; the confirmation says This is covered by your subscription.
- Period. Your studio sets the period: every month, every 4 weeks, or something else. The period starts on the day you start. If you start a monthly membership on 12 September, your first period runs through 11 October and the next period is charged on 12 October.
- Automatic charge. You pay the first period immediately when starting, with iDEAL or credit card. With that you also give the mandate for the following periods. Your bank statement shows your studio's name "via Mollie". You get an e-mail at every charge; there is no reminder beforehand.
- Cancel per period. You cancel whenever you like; your membership then runs until the end of the paid period.
- One membership at a time. If you also have a class pass, it stays unused as long as your membership runs. Keep an eye on that pass's validity.
Starting a membership
- Log in and go to Buy. Memberships are at the top, with the price per period and the date of the next charge. Click Start membership.
- You see what is going to happen: what you pay now, until when that period runs and what is charged per period after that.
- Tick the consent: I want to book right away and agree that the service starts within the statutory fourteen-day cooling-off period. If I cancel within that time, the classes I attended will be charged. Without this tick you cannot continue.
- Click Continue to payment and pay at Mollie with iDEAL or credit card.
- Back on the confirmation page it reads Your membership is active. The first period is paid and your mandate is in place. You can book right away.
You get the e-mail Your subscription to <product> has started with all the details: amount, period, date of the next charge, the mandate (the last digits of your account or card) and the fourteen-day cooling-off period. Keep this e-mail.
If the payment fails, nothing has been charged and you can try again. If you see You already have an active membership, you already have one; look under My membership. This studio cannot sell memberships yet means the studio has not set up the payment methods yet; contact the studio.
My membership
Under My membership you see your product, the price, until when the current period runs, the date and amount of the next charge and your mandate. If a price change has been announced or a pause has been set, that is shown too. There is no overview of your payments; those confirmations are in your e-mail.
If a charge fails
If a charge does not go through, for example because of insufficient funds or an expired card, you immediately get an e-mail with the reason and the button Pay now. The same message is on My membership. You can still book as usual.
- Bookasport automatically tries again after three days.
- If a week after the failed charge there is still no payment, your membership is suspended: you cannot book until the period is paid. Classes you had already booked remain. You get an e-mail about this.
- If thirty days after the suspension there is still no payment, your membership ends. You get an e-mail about this and can then start a new membership. The outstanding amount remains owed to the studio.
With Pay now you resolve it at any moment. You pay the outstanding period through Mollie; with that you also give a new mandate, useful if your old card had expired. After that your membership simply continues and you get the e-mail Your subscription to <product> has been renewed. If you paid outside Mollie, in cash for instance, the studio can record that for you.
If you reverse a charge at your bank yourself, your membership is suspended immediately and you get thirty days to pay after all. Mollie charges the studio a fee for a chargeback; better to talk to the studio first.
Cancelling
- Go to My membership and click Cancel membership.
- Confirm with Yes, cancel.
Your membership ends at the end of the period you have already paid for; until that date you can book as usual and your bookings remain. Nothing more is charged. You get the e-mail Your subscription to <product> has been cancelled with the end date.
Note: a charge that is already on its way at the bank cannot be stopped. Cancel before the date of the next charge and nothing more is charged; on that date itself the charge may already be on its way, and it will then still go through. You do get that whole period.
Cancelling is final; you cannot undo it. If you want to take classes again later, you start a new membership. If your membership is suspended at the moment you cancel, it ends today and the outstanding period remains owed; paying it is then only possible through the studio.
Pause and price change
Pause. Your studio can pause your membership, for example for a holiday or an injury. Ask the studio; pausing yourself is not possible. During the pause you cannot book with your membership (you can with a class pass, if you have one). You get the days of the pause back at the end of your period: the next charge moves forward by as many days. You get an e-mail with the pause dates and the new charge date.
Price change. If the studio changes the price, you get an e-mail at least fourteen days in advance with the old and the new price and the effective date. Until that date you pay the old price. If you do not want to continue at the new price, cancel before that date. If the studio withdraws the change, you get an e-mail about that too.
What is not possible
- Pausing yourself, or switching your mandate or payment method while nothing is outstanding.
- Resuming a cancelled membership; you start a new one.
- Having two memberships at the same time.
- Requesting a refund through Bookasport; contact the studio for that.
